Viewers of the CBS show want Mark Harmon to return as soon as possible.
NCIS viewers were forced to say an emotional goodbye to Gibbs (Mark Harmon) in Alaska at the start of season 19. Even though it’s been months, many people are still struggling to accept his departure.
This was made abundantly clear when a flashback photo of Gibbs sparked a rallying call for the special agent in charge to return.
It all started when the CBS show went on a three-week Christmas hiatus and shared a 13-second clip of a scene with Gibbs and Parker (Gary Cole) on its official Instagram page. In the episode four sample, the two leaders struggle to work together while dealing with Samuels (Jason Wiles).
Parker wants a truce, but Gibbs doesn’t want to hear it – and things only get worse from there.
After rewatching the clip on Instagram, NCIS viewers were quick to express their strong feelings about the show without Gibbs. “GET RID OF PARKER, BRING BACK GIBBS,” one commenter said.
“GIBBS NEEDS TO COME BACK,” said another. “The show cannot continue without him.” It isn’t as good. “Bring him back or end it,” another fan suggested. “I’m missing Gibbs!” “It’s not the same,” a follower said.
Others, however, stated they understood why actor Mark Harmon decided to quit NCIS after 19 seasons, but would welcome a few cameo appearances. “Mark deserves a happy retirement and perhaps a few more scenes with him and his friend Tobias fishing and chilling.”
“Just a few more Gibbs!” wrote someone. I appreciate Mark’s desire to retire, but please inform him that we will miss Gibbs. A fan stated, “We just want a scene here and there (obviously, we would take more, but I’ll take what I can get!”
Nonetheless, some supporters are attempting to see the bright side. Following Gibbs’ unexpected departure, Parker assumed full-time leadership of the team with the approval of McGee (Sean Murray).
“I adore Gibbs and will miss him, but I also adore Parker.” He is not a replacement; he is simply a new person. Gibbs cannot be replaced. Parker has his own character, and he fits in well with the others,” someone remarked.
“Parker is an excellent choice for NCIS… I truly admire his fashion sense. “I really hope we get more seasons with Parker as the lead agent,” one fan expressed hope.
Whether you’re one of the many hoping Gibbs will return or you’ve accepted his departure, it’s apparent that no one will ever forget him.
