Brian Dietzen, well known for his role as Dr. Jimmy Palmer on NCIS, recognizes the significance of Mark Harmon’s departure from the series. Dietzen, who has worked with Harmon for nearly two decades, characterizes the current season as “Very Different” because of the loss of long-time team leader Leroy Gibbs.
Season 19 of NCIS has seen multiple changes, including the departure of characters like Ellie Bishop and Jack Sloane, portrayed by Emily Wickersham and Maria Bello, respectively. Despite these exits, new additions like Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) and team leader Alden Parker (Gary Cole) have joined the cast.
Dietzen says that the loss of Gibbs, a prominent character in the series, has left a notable hole. However, he emphasizes the rise of other characters, such as Parker, as multidimensional heroes who propel the story forward.
With the departure of Gibbs, the dynamics within the team have shifted towards a more ensemble-driven approach. Established agents like Tim McGee and Torres, along with newcomers like Knight, are taking on greater responsibilities and contributing to the evolving storyline.
As NCIS navigates these changes, Dietzen is intrigued by the characters’ growth and development under the chaos. While fans wait for the series’ comeback, rumor lingers that Gibbs may make a cameo appearance in the forthcoming 20th season.
