Donnie Wahlberg, star of BLUE BLOODS, explains his approach to the show following its near-cancellation.

“I’m an optimist,” the actor said in an interview with Us Weekly. “I try to approach each episode as it happens. I truly believe it. I think it’s one of the reasons I’ve had so much fun on the program for the past 13 years.”

“One of the things I’ve done is I try to just stay very present in each episode and take each script that comes my way and say, ‘Okay, what’s gonna happen now?'” Wahlberg stated.

‘Do you know what I’m up to this week?’ And kind of find the journey in that particular episode rather than getting caught up in what’s going to happen next year or in two years.”

The 14th season of BLUE BLOODS has been officially renewed after the actors and crew agreed to a 25% wage cut.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “the stars and key producers all agreed to the pay reduction in order to keep the Friday night cop drama running and keep the hundreds of production staffers employed for another season.”

With the renewal, BLUE BLOODS becomes the network’s second-longest-running current scripted series, trailing only NCIS, which was just renewed for a 21st season.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, he was similarly excited about his stint on BLUE BLOODS.

“I’m just so grateful, you know?” “It’s incredible to be doing so many things that I enjoy,” Wahlberg said. “I’ve been in my band for almost 40 years, 30-something years, and I’ve been doing this show for 13 years, and I’m so grateful for it.”

“I have a great cast that has become family, a great crew, and so many loyal viewers and fans,” he concluded.

It’s simply incredible. So I don’t feel relieved as much as I have to pinch myself from time to time, wondering, “How did this happen?” Growing up, I dreamed of finding a way to do things I enjoy, and to be doing it after all these years and having so much pleasure doing it makes me feel very happy and grateful.”

Wahlberg’s experience on BLUE BLOODS has given him the courage to pursue new ventures, such as VERY SCARY PEOPLE, a real cr1me show that he hosts and executive produces.

“I probably wouldn’t have done VERY SCARY PEOPLE if it hadn’t been for BLUE BLOODS,” the actor told PEOPLE.

“I think BLUE BLOODS prepared the audience for me to be the host of VERY SCARY PEOPLE in some ways.” Because of my work on BLUE BLOODS, I believe I have some legitimacy as the host of this show.”

Season 14 of BLUE BLOODS will not air this fall owing to ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

The hit show has been a part of CBS’ fall roster for the past 13 seasons, and season 14 was supposed to be released as part of the channel’s 2023-2024 fall schedule…

“At the moment, CBS has not released an official release date for Blue Bloods season 14; however, the network has confirmed that the new season will not be available until 2024.” This suggests that the new season might launch as early as January, according to MSN.

Season 14 could premiere in January, depending on when the writers’ and performers’ strikes expire. If the strikes continue until October, production will be further delayed, potentially pushing BLUE BLOODS season 14 back even more.
