Will Ziva David return to replace Agent Gibbs on NCIS..?

Agent Ziva appeared in NCIS seasons 16 and 17. After pretending to be d3ad for several years, David was discovered to be alive and well. Will she, however, soon take over for Agent Gibbs?

NCIS season 17 ended earlier this month after the series was forced to be canceled. Because of the cor0na v1rus pand3mic, filming on most shows around the world had to be halted, and thus the final few episodes of the series had not been filmed. Instead of the planned finale, the CBS cr1me drama ended on an emotional note with Arizona, which focused on a Pearl Harbor survivor’s final wishes.

Viewers and NCIS alike believed Agent Ziva David (played by Cote de Pablo) was k1ll3d in a mortar att4ck by CIA operative Trent Kort (David Dayan Fisher).

However, she was actually in hiding and needed to make everyone believe she was d3ad so that her loved ones, including Tony Dinozzo (Michael Weatherly) and their daughter Tali, would be safe.

But when she learned that Agent Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) life was in danger, she had no choice but to reveal herself in order to warn and protect him.

This was how season 16 ended but thankfully she returned again for the beginning of series 17 as well.

The team eventually discovered that Gibbs’ next-door neighbor Sarah (Louise Barnes) was the t3rror1st Sahar who wanted him d3ad.

They were able to thwart her plans and k1ll her, but this was especially heartbreaking for Gibbs because she was the mother of Phineas (Jack Fisher), a young boy he had grown close to since they moved to the neighborhood.

Meanwhile, Ziva was debating whether or not to approach Tony because she was afraid he and Tali would reject her.

But, of course, they did, and Ziva ended up traveling to Paris to be reunited with her family.

Will Ziva David return to take over as Agent Gibbs’ replacement..?

Pablo had previously stated that she could not see herself returning to NCIS, but this was before she returned to the show last year.

In an interview with Vanity Fair in 2016, Pablo explained that she left the show not because she didn’t like it, but because Ziva wasn’t getting the “respect” she deserved.

Pablo explained: “Look, I love this character. I worked eight years crafting this character and loving her.

“And so, when I felt or perceived that the character was not being treated with the respect that she deserved, no amount of money would suffice.”

“They were going to send her back to Israel and make her an unfortunate, miserable woman.

“I asked myself, ‘What do I leave all the women who have been watching and following the show for so long?'” And it didn’t seem fair to me. So I told myself, ‘Unless someone can write something truly fantastic for her, I’m not going back.'”

So, will the prospect of being promoted to Gibbs’ position be enough to entice Pablo to return to NCIS?

Gibbs was 53 years old when the show began, but he is now at least eight years older than the NCIS field agent mandatory retirement age of 57.

Under federal law, he should no longer be allowed to serve as an agent.

Harmon, who is 68 years old, has only signed up for the 17th season and has not yet officially agreed to take part in another series.

Is it possible that Gibbs will retire from NCIS in season 18 and Ziva will be welcomed back as his replacement?

As of yet, neither theories have been confirmed but it is starting to sound more likely that Gibbs’ time on the show is almost up.

“I would say in that regard, this is a general statement about humanity and specific to Gibbs, there’s only so much one man can take,” executive producer Steven B. Binder told Cinema Blend.

“He’s getting close to redlining. What that looks like, tune in.”

CBS has not yet officially renewed NCIS for an 18th season, but given that the news is usually announced in April each year, fans should know soon.
