Will More ‘NCIS Los Angeles’ Cast Members Appear on Other Shows?

NCIS: Los Angeles ended after 14 seasons, and while it seemed like it would be a while before fans were reunited with their favorite characters, that was not the case for Special Agent Sam Hanna.

Just a day after the NCIS: LA finale aired, LL Cool J’s fan-favorite character made the jump to NCIS: Hawai’i. He was later announced as a recurring guest star in the spin-off’s upcoming third season. But does this mean that more of the OSP team will appear in Hawai’i or the flagship series?

While NCIS: Los Angeles ended recently, fans are likely already missing the characters, and LL Cool J’s surprise appearance on NCIS: Hawai’i may be giving fans hope that they will see more NCIS: Los Angeles characters in the future. R. Scott Gemmill, executive producer, tells TV Insider that it is a future possibility, adding,

That, I believe, is very possible. Since we’ve done a crossover, some of the characters have appeared on other shows, so it’s possible that they’ll appear there as well. At this point, that’s a decision beyond my ability.

NCIS: LA was able to participate in the big three-way NCIS crossover earlier this year, which was the franchise’s first three-way crossover.

It took a long time, and I’m glad it finally happened before one of the shows ended. While Gemmill does not make decisions on the sister shows, it appears that a crossover involving the OSP team is still a possibility, and Sam Hanna will not be the only one to appear on another NCIS show. We’ll have to see what happens.

Even if fans don’t see more NCIS: LA characters in DC or Honolulu, with LL Cool J joining Tennant’s team now and then next season, there’s a chance Special Agent Hanna will provide some updates on other members of the cast.

NCIS: LA’s series finale revealed that Kensi and Deeks are expecting a child, and since they won’t be able to show the two welcoming their new bundle of joy, any and all updates from Sam would be greatly appreciated.

Because Sam was previously in Morocco with Callen on a mission, Chris O’Donnell could make an appearance, but nothing is set in stone just yet. I hear there’s a writers strike going on, so we might not see any other cast members anytime soon.

LL Cool J revealed the props he took from the set ahead of the NCIS: LA finale, including Sam’s vest, some of his shirts, and even one of Callen’s shirts, as well as some knickknacks from the boatshed.

It’s difficult to leave a role that has been a part of you for over a decade, so it’ll be exciting to see what happens in the upcoming season of NCIS: Hawai’i and how Sam fits into it all.

NCIS: Hawai’i’s third season will continue to be part of the 2023 TV schedule when it premieres on CBS this fall. In the meantime, all episodes are available to Paramount+ subscribers, so fans will be able to keep themselves entertained until the franchise returns in the fall, albeit without the entire OSP team.
