Many fans are wondering why actress Maria Bello left her role as Jack Sloane as NCIS season 21 approaches.

Only three years after her introduction, NCIS viewers were forced to say goodbye to forensic psychologist Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane (played by Maria Bello) in season 18.

Despite the fact that she was one of several fan favorites to leave the CBS drama over the last two decades, viewers were heartbroken to see her go.

Sloane became an important component of NCIS’ Major Case Response Team with her season 15 debut, overseen by NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon).

She gave profiles of the offenders they were looking for, as well as going into the field on occasion to assist the team with their investigations.

Sloan’s screen presence, however, came to an end when Bello decided not to renew her three-year contract.

Despite rumors of conflict on set, the actress only had positive things to say about the show when she announced her departure.

Bello confirmed her resignation on Instagram, alongside photographs of her character and a behind-the-scenes goodbye kiss with her co-star Mark Harmon.

“And that’s a wrap for Jack Sloane, I’ve learned a lot on this journey over the last three and a half years,” she wrote.

“I understand why, after 18 years, this show is still the most watched in the world – you must all feel our love.” Keep an eye out. I believe there will be many more years to come.”

“Thank you to all of my NCIS colleagues and fans.” “I am truly grateful,” she said.

Following her departure, Bello decided to pursue other opportunities, including a role in 2020’s The Water Man and a major role as Jordan Forester in Netflix’s Beef.

The latter has been praised as one of her best performances, and she has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy in 2023.

Bello is also listed as a writer and producer for The Woman King, which stars Viola Davis, Lashana Lynch, and John Boyega, in addition to her on-screen roles.

According to insiders, her departure from CBS happened when it was disclosed that her partner Dominique Crenn was fighting cancer at the time.

Despite her contract, Bello returned to NCIS for the first seven episodes of season 18 to give her character the proper finale.

Fans will remember After a case involving her slain friend Darya Borov (Sara Emami), Sloane began to feel emotionally tired from apprehending cr1minals.

She eventually resigned from the NCIS team and moved to Afghanistan with the purpose of carrying on the task her late buddy had begun.
