The superb cast at the heart of Blue Bloods has contributed to the show’s popularity throughout the last 11 seasons. The Reagan family includes some major names, not the least of which is Tom Selleck, who plays family patriarch Frank Reagan.

Prior to joining the police procedural, Selleck was best known for playing the title character on Magnum, P.I., which aired from 1980 to 1988.

However, he is not the only prominent member of the Blue Bloods cast.

Donnie Wahlberg (The Sixth Sense, Saw II), Bridget Moynahan (Lord of War, John Wick), and Will Estes (Boy Meets World, American Dreams) all star in the series.

While those actors can always be counted on for strong performances, they’ve helped usher in a new generation of stars who have made a big name for themselves with prominent roles on the series, such as Andrew and Tony Terraciano, who are brothers in real life and play brothers on the drama, and Sami Gayle, who plays Nicky Reagan-Boyle.

Some may believe Gayle’s first part was on Blue Bloods, however they are inaccurate. She previously had a minor role on a show that has been on the air for far longer than Blue Bloods.

Sami Gayle made her television debut on As the World Turns.

There’s a reason why lists of the longest-running television series of all time frequently include the “primetime” title. This is due to the fact that daytime soap operas have been known to last for decades with thousands of episodes.

One such show is As the World Turns. You might have caught a glimpse of it if you ever had to stay home ill from school or if you were a stay-at-home parent between 1956 and 2010. Sami Gayle starred in the final episodes of As the World Turns from 2009 to 2010, playing Hayden Lawson, just before the show ended for good.

A plethora of other renowned personalities appeared on As the World Turns over the years, launching countless high-profile careers. Julianne Moore (The Big Lebowski, Still Alice), Amanda Seyfried (Mean Girls, Mank), Amy Ryan (The Office, The Wire), and Meg Ryan (Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail) are among those who will appear – and that’s only touching the surface.

Vanessa Ray, Gayle’s future Blue Bloods co-star, also got her start on the drama with a role that ran from 2006 to 2010, before joining the main cast of Blue Bloods in season 4 as Officer Eddie Marie Janko-Reagan.

Gayle’s previous acting credentials have properly equipped her for the future, and it’s thrilling to think about what kind of films and TV shows she might appear in next.
