Jason Momoa’s new Apple TV+ series Chief of War has announced a slew of new cast members, including two NCIS: Hawai’i stars.
The upcoming series, which was announced earlier this year, is about the unification and colonization of Hawai’i as seen through the eyes of the indigenous people.
According to Deadline, Moses Goods and Siua Ikale’o from NCIS will join the cast as Moku, Chief Advisor to Kamehameha of Hawai’i and Ka’ahumanu’s (Luciane Buchanan) father, and Nahi, the youngest brother of Momoa’s character Ka’iana.
Te Ao o Hinepehinga (Breakwater) as Kupuohi, Ka’iana’s wife, and newcomer Kaina Makua as Kamehameha, a prophesied king destined to unite the warring kingdoms of the Hawaiian Islands, are also on board.
Brandon Finn (Three Women) plays Prince Kpule, the son of King Kahekili (Temuera Morrison), Tony, a runaway slave who befriends Ka’iana, Mainei Kinimaka (See) is Kupuohi’s younger sister, and Te Kohe Tuhaka (The Convert) is Namake, Ka’iana’s younger brother and an elite warrior.
In addition to starring, Momoa will co-write Chief of War with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett and executive produce alongside The Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence, Pa’a Sibbett, Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Erik Holmberg, and Doug Jung.
Momoa’s most recent project is the Netflix fantasy adventure Slumberland, on which he collaborated once again with Lawrence.
In our two-star review, we stated: “As much as the emotional core works, Slumberland is let down by the fact that, as a fantasy, the majority of it isn’t fantastical. If you stay awake during the action, it’s a diverting enough watch thanks to the efforts of the cast.”
