It will feature Australian actors and producers telling local stories.

Beverley McGarvey, Chief Content Officer and Executive Vice President, ViacomCBS Australia and New Zealand, recently stated to TV Tonight, ‘We are thrilled to welcome the inaugural international series of NCIS to Australian shores.’

‘It’s an honor to be able to carry on the legacy of such a wonderful show and incorporate the superior NCIS storytelling while introducing new Australian characters and locations,’ says the show’s creator.

The announcement came after CBS renewed the hit show NCIS for a 19th season, with star Mark Harmon reprising his role as Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Fans can’t get enough of the drama series, which is the most watched show on television, with an average of 12 million viewers per episode.

The series may eventually overtake three Law & Order franchise shows to become television’s longest running show. Law & Order: SVU currently holds the title after 23 seasons.

NCIS was a CBS spin-off of JAG, both of which were created by Donald P. Bellisario and aired for ten seasons between 1995 and 2005.

NCIS: Los Angeles, which debuted in 2009 and is currently in its 13th season, NCIS: New Orleans, which was canceled after seven seasons, and NCIS: Hawaii, which debuted this fall, are all CBS spin-offs.
