Brian Dietzen, well known for his role as Jimmy Palmer on NCIS, recently revealed that he co-wrote an emotional memorial episode for his late co-star, David McCallum, who played Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard.

McCallum, who passed away in September at the age of 90, had been an integral part of NCIS since its premiere in 2003. With fans mourning his loss, there were questions about how the show would address his absence.

In anticipation of the farewell episode, which will premiere on February 19, Dietzen stated that they wanted to commemorate McCallum’s legacy while also celebrating the fun experiences they had on set. He underlined the necessity of continuing to generate high-quality work in honor of McCallum.

Dietzen assured viewers that the episode wouldn’t solely rely on flashbacks of Ducky’s scenes but would also involve the agents solving a case. He explained that while the case may not directly relate to Ducky, it would thematically tie into the team’s loss, ensuring a meaningful tribute to both the character and the actor.
