NCIS season 21’s UK Premiere Date Still Delayed Even After the Writers’ Strike Has Ended

NCIS season 21 has been approved, but when will the show return for new episodes?

NCIS fans are eagerly awaiting the return of the police drama for season 21.

Despite several ominous indicators for the show in recent years, CBS granted the drama a green light for a 21st season earlier this year.

NCIS New Orleans ended after seven seasons, while NCIS Los Angeles ended after 14 episodes, but NCIS Hawaii infused new life into the NCIS universe.

The island-set drama will return for a third season, and there will also be a new spin-off, NCIS Hawaii, to look forward to.

With series 21 on the way, the whole franchise is the third longest-running US primetime drama series history, after only Law and Order and Law and Order SVU.

When will NCIS return to the UK for Season 21?

For the most of 2023, Hollywood has been plagued by writers’ and actors’ strikes, which have halted the creation of series and films.

This included postponing work on NCIS while employees fought for new labor agreements; thankfully, the Writers Guild of America’s strike ended last month after discussions.

However, because the SAG-AFTRA strike is still continuing, production on NCIS or any other show cannot begin until the strike is resolved.

The series’ return was originally intended for fall 2023 in the United States, where NCIS first aired, but it is now more likely to be early-mid 2024.

Season 20 premiered on CBS in the United States in September 2022, followed by a four-month run on Disney+ in the United Kingdom in January 2023.

If the drama follows the same release schedule trend, then if NCIS premieres in the spring, UK viewers won’t be able to see any new episodes until at least the summer of next year.

In any case, there won’t be anything new from the original NCIS series to look forward to in 2023.

Fans should not be too disappointed, however, because the next spin-off will begin soon.

NCIS Sydney will premiere on Paramount+ in the UK and CBS in the US next month.

Given that the remainder of the series is available on Disney+, the program may be added to the service as well, but given that it is the first international spin-off, this may not be the case.

NCIS Sydney will premiere on November 10th, featuring Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Mavournee Hazel, and Tuuli Narkle.
