Following the tragic news of David McCallum’s untimely d3ath, renowned for his portrayal of the beloved character Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard on NCIS, fans are grappling with the iconic character’s impending absence in the show’s upcoming 21st season.

McCallum’s d3ath was a devastating blow to the NCIS community, especially since it occurred during the show’s 20th anniversary celebration.

The actor had been set to reprise his role in several episodes of the upcoming season, but fate had other plans, and his passing occurred before production could resume.

Now, the challenge for the show’s creators lies in addressing Ducky’s absence within the narrative in a way that pays a fitting tribute to both the character and the esteemed actor behind him.

Given McCallum’s inherent connection to the character he created, one of the most logical approaches would be for Ducky Mallard to die within the NCIS universe.

However, as fans are well aware, the execution of such a plot is critical, necessitating sensitivity and respect for both the character and the actor who plays him.

In light of this, fervent hopes linger among the fan base for a tasteful tribute that befits the legacy of Donald ‘Ducky’ Mallard and honors the memory of David McCallum.

NCIS has a history of handling emotional and poignant storylines with finesse, and fans anticipate that the show’s creative team will approach Ducky’s departure with the same level of care.

  1. There needs to be a way to work Joan Collins into the tribute. Joan has known him since their teens when they lived in Hampstead Heath and attended RADA together.

    • Joan Collins is dead, too. Has been for a long time. You should refer to people in the past tense when they’ve passed on. “Joan knew him… ” Or “They knew each other…” She can’t know him now.
But… Joan Collins has nothing to do with NCIS. Never did. Never will.

  2. I’ve watched David McCallum in many shows since the 60’s. His death should be respectful yet an unexpected event. Also he should have full military honors done by not only the US Navy, but also and more important by the Brittish military unit he served with according to the show and full military honors done by them.

  3. NCIS did a great episode about a Pearl Harbor vet that passed. It should surpass that! They are very capable of doing a great tribute for he and his fans! Might even keep people watching!

  4. Ducky was such a great character…love him and miss him. I hope NCIS does something wonderful in his honor…on the show…. I feel sure they will.

  5. Ducky can be at another agency for 1/2 of the season. He can help by sending info back to them. That would keep him alive on the show. Unfortunately on other shows, they have a well loved character die in a car crash or a plane accident. I want to say that one of his last shows finding his long lost brother. Maybe he can pass away helping his family. Just an idea. Don’t replace Ducky with a new person.
