Season 18 of NCIS concluded with an 3xpl0sive finale that left fans with many unanswered questions. Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) was driving into the sunset on his boat, Rule 91, when it suddenly 3xpl0ded.

Nobody knows what will happen to the former Special Agent in Charge in Season 19. Some fans, however, believe that this new storyline will result in the return of Cote de Pablo as Ziva David.

During Season 18 of ‘NCIS,’ Gibbs lost his badge and gun.

Midway through season 18, Gibbs was suspended “indefinitely” from NCIS for using excessive force on a suspect. Gibbs refused to apologize for his actions after surrendering his badge and gun. Instead, he returned home to work on his boat, “Rule 91.”

While on suspension, Gibbs collaborated with journalist Marcie Warren (Pam Dawber) on a serial k1ll3r case. By the end of the season, it was clear that Gibbs had no intention of returning to NCIS. Rule 91, as he explained to Agent Bishop (Emily Wickersham), was “don’t look back when you decide to walk away.”

Who was responsible for the 3xpl0sion?

In the last seconds of the NCIS season 18 finale, Gibbs was floating in the water after his boat expl0ded. He swam away before the credits rolled, confirming that he survived. But the cliffhanger left fans wondering who was behind the att4ck and why it happened in the first place.

Prior to his boat’s 3xpl0sion, Gibbs informed Marcie that her office had been bugged and that they were being watched. The most likely explanation is that Gibbs and Marcie were approaching the truth in their serial k1ll3r case. It’s possible that the person they were looking into was the one who planted the bomb. However, there is also the possibility that someone wanted the world to believe Gibbs was d3ad.

Could this be the ‘NCIS’ storyline that brings Ziva David back?

When Ziva was revealed to be alive at the end of season 16, she and Gibbs had an emotional conversation about her disappearance. Ziva confronted her former boss about why he didn’t question her d3ath reports and look for her. Instead, she felt abandoned by him.

Ziva admitted to Gibbs that if it had been the other way around, she would have looked for him. She stated that if he ever went missing or was presumed d3ad, she would not hesitate to go looking for him. It was a harrowing scene. For some fans, it’s the only hint that Ziva will return in season 19 to look for Gibbs.

The team will conduct an investigation.

If Gibbs is missing or presumed d3ad when season 19 of NCIS returns this fall, that could definitely mean the return of Ziva. It could also possibly mean the return of Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) for an episode or two.

Fans can be sure that if someone wanted the team to believe Gibbs was d3ad, the NCIS team will look into it. But now that Agent Bishop is gone, McGee (Sean Murray) and Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) will need some assistance.

Will there be a new cast member in season 19 of ‘NCIS’?

During the final two episodes of season 18, fans met NCIS REACT Agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) after she lost her entire team in an att4ck. Fans picked up on a few hints that seemed to indicate Agent Knight would be joining the NCIS team permanently in season 19.

Now that Bishop has left the team, there is a vacancy. Agent Knight also informed McGee that she didn’t know where she belonged. In response, he stated that families develop. They do require another team member, and Agent Knight is the obvious choice.

There’s also plenty of room for Ziva to return, and according to IMDB, de Pablo’s schedule appears to be open. Tony’s appearance, on the other hand, would be a major snub, as Weatherly’s legal drama Bull has been renewed for a sixth season.
