NCIS Producer Shares Insights on How the Show Plans to Address Ducky’s Death

Fans of NCIS grieve the loss of David McCallum, who was best known for his role as Ducky. McCallum was supposed to return for NCIS’ 20th anniversary, but he died before production. Producers intend to treat his character’s death respectfully in the forthcoming season.

Ducky Mallard’s Death Will Be Addressed in Season 21 of NCIS.

NCIS Season 21 will address the death of beloved character Ducky Mallard, confirm co-showrunners Steven D. Binder and David North.

The show will not resort to off-screen explanations for his absence but will instead have the team mourn his loss in an emotional episode.

Ducky’s meticulous nature will shine through as he solves one last cr1me with the team posthumously. Speculation about cameos from original cast members like Leroy Gibbs and Abbey Sciuto remains unanswered.

The Showrunners of NCIS Promise a ‘Special Moment’ for Fans

Fans, on the other hand, have been assured that they will want to be seated for some major emotional moments. “There will also be a very touching and special moment you won’t want to miss,” they teased, which is sure to tug at any NCIS fan’s heartstrings.

Steven D. Binder and David North have spoken about McCallum twice since his d3ath in September. They issued a joint statement praising the actor for his generosity toward his co-stars and the distinct presence he brought to the set every day.

“As much as his fans adored him, those who worked alongside David adored him even more,” they wrote. “It was an honor to work with him from the start, and he never let us down.” He was, simply put, a legend.

We’d have to agree, and we’re glad McCallum will be remembered properly.

  1. Ducky was a member of the fans families as are all the actors on NCIS. We share the grief when one is truly gone and miss the ones that have just left the show with sadness. No one can really be replaced and we know the show goes on but we never forget The originals that we love so much. he was very much dedicated to his work. God bless him🙏🙏💔😥

  5. The show has handled the demise of those who have left very well. I love Kate telling Gibbs he was late to her funeral. Mike giving Gibbs grief over how he was doing things, etc. RIP Ducky. Gone but never forgotten. ❤️✝️💜

  6. Death doesn’t have a 3 in it. Learn to spell people. We all die. Death is not a bad or offensive word.
Can’t wait to see Ducky’s tribute episode.

  7. You will be missed. Luckily we have reruns to still watch him and others that has died .I liked when Gibbs and Ducky became friends in London

  8. I suppose I can count on lots of tears in the episode. Ducky was one of my favorite characters. I used to watch ‘The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’, but I was a Robert Vaughn fan. It was nice that David stayed in the show to the end, even in his limited role.
