NCIS LA season 13 is about to welcome a familiar face back into the CBS drama, and fans are overjoyed.
NCIS: Los Angeles fans have been patiently waiting for over a month for the hit CBS series to return to screens after a brief hiatus to accommodate the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. With season 13, episode nine a little more than a week away, details about what fans can expect have begun to emerge. And the most recent update, which confirms Nate (played by Peter Cambor) will be returning to the fray, has been well received.
Nate hasn’t been seen on NCIS LA since his last appearance in season eight.
Cambor’s time on the show dwindled as the seasons progressed, despite being a series regular in the first season.
His alter ego, the Operational Psychologist, will now join forces with Admiral Kilbride (Gerard McRaney) next month.
Few details about his return have been revealed, but the official CBS synopsis teases his involvement briefly.
“When a newborn child is discovered abandoned on a Navy ship, Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) search for the mother on board before she d1es of complications,” it reads.
“Also, Nate meets with Admiral Kilbride and learns about a CIA project involving children from the 1970s and 1980s.”
Nate will make his return in the episode Where Loyalties Lie on March 6, one week after the drama’s highly anticipated return with Under the Influence on February 27.
While actor Cambor has yet to issue a statement or post on social media to commemorate the occasion, a number of fans were eager to express their own delight.
Breanna Middleton posted on Twitter, “I was wondering if we’d see Nate again!!!!” #NCISLA is so exciting.”
“Yes!!” said @kwanfan1212. “I’m looking forward to seeing him again,” she said, followed by a love heart emoji.
@mollyk1996 simply added, “Peter’s back #NCISLA,” to the conversation.
“I am looking forward to seeing Nate again,” @Candi12301 remarked. “I’m hoping Deeks and Kensi will be able to foster this baby they find.”
Unfortunately, CBS has yet to release a promotional trailer showing Nate in action.
However, in a first-look image from the episode, fans see him face off against Kilbride once more.
Nate is taking a walk with Kilbride while he listens intently to what he has to say – presumably about the aforementioned CIA project.
Deeks and Kensi’s hopes for a family will be revisited later in the episode, it appears.
For some time now, the couple has been attempting to start a family, and perhaps this episode will provide the perfect opportunity.
Could they intervene if they are unable to locate the mother of the abandoned baby on the Navy ship?
