‘NCIS Cast’: What They Actually Thinks About Mark Harmon

You’ve heard the gossip. The Hollywood Reporter, at least. Season 19 of NCIS may be Mark Harmon’s final season, and he’s not (gasp!) anticipated to return on a regular basis.

CBS Entertainment President Kelly Kahl affirmed to Deadline in September 2021 that Harmon would always “be part of the show… in terms of his on-air appearances [as Leroy Gibbs], we’re just going to have to see how it plays out going forward.” We understand that there is a lot to take in.

If the NCIS pillar stone is actually preparing to step down, his decision is unlikely to be motivated by difficulties with the actors. Okay, fine.

There were allegations in 2016 that actress Pauley Parette (who played Abby) had left the show following a particularly heated argument with Harmon. Don’t recall? Harmon’s dog supposedly bit one of the crew members, who required 15 stitches.

According to a source at the time, Harmon and Parette’s relationship degenerated so badly in the aftermath that the two refused to work together.

“She did her scenes on one day and he did his work on other days, and they still produced a great show,” a source said.

However, Diona Reasonover (AKA NCIS Kasie Hines), who took over for Parette, told TV Insider in 2018 that “NCIS feels like a big family.” We’ve done some research. Harmon appears to be regarded as “family” by his coworkers.

The NCIS cast is a huge fan of Mark Harmon.

It goes without saying that Pam Dawber, Mark Harmon’s flesh-and-blood wife, has nothing but praise for her husband. Dawber, who portrays investigative journalist Marcie Warren on NCIS, told Entertainment Weekly that her spouse “is just a giving, great guy.”

He just gives me compliments, you know?” The rest of the NCIS cast is almost as smitten with their co-star.

Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Special Agent Nick Torres, told ET that he and Harmon “have quite a bromance going on,” and that Harmon’s “energy is beautiful.” Sean Murray (Tim McGee, everyone’s favorite) told Country Living that “Harmon is a very special individual,” praising his talent and leadership for the show’s longevity.

Harmon was characterized as “the ultimate collaborator” by Rocky Carroll, who plays NCIS Director Leon Vance, to HuffPost.Harmon, according to Brian Dietzen (the trustworthy Dr. Jimmy Palmer) deserves an Emmy (via Twitter).

Maria Bello, aka Jack Sloane, posted a farewell photo of herself and Harmon hugging on The Gram (yep, she’s leaving the show). “I’ve never worked with a kinder, more generous group of people.”

That’s what she said.Emily Wickersham, sometimes known as Eleanor Bishop, attributes that kindness to Harmon. When she took over for the irreplaceable Cote de Pablo, she told Perth Now that the cast’s happiness is due to Harmon’s gentleness. “I really believe that starts with him and trickles down,” she went on to say.

As previously stated, Mark Harmon may be departing NCIS. If that’s the case, it’s not the cast that’s kicking him out.

  1. Let’s face it, he made that show what it was a great show has been for years, and I don’t think I miss one still watching the reruns I could watch him again and again

  2. We must all remember that Mark Harmon has a personal life too just like everybody else. He has been dedicated to the fans for over 20 years and he’s old enough to retire if he chooses. He may have things he’s always wanted to do and never had time to do And would like to now. We all selfishly want him to stay as Gibbs forever but must understand if he chooses not to. He loves his fans and we love him but we can’t keep him from his own life forever. It will be a sad day when he does quit at least we all know he is happy and that all that should matter to us. 🙏❤️🙏
