While NCIS fans mourn the loss of a fan favorite, one famous name has broken his silence to bid his own farewell.

On September 25, fans of the procedural drama learnt that David McCallum (who played Donald “Ducky” Mallard) d1ed of natural causes at the age of 90. Wilmer Valderrama was among many who paid tribute to his career online shortly after his d3ath was announced.

Mark Harmon, who famously played Leroy Jethro Gibbs, also made a heartfelt remark in memory of his old friend.

“David lived a great, full, and long life,” Mark said in a direct statement to TVLine. “I was in awe when I first met him, and everyone on the show was honored to have toed the line alongside him.” My heartfelt condolences to [David’s wife] Katherine and his family.”

Mark and David have both appeared on NCIS since the show’s pilot in September 2003. While the former quit four episodes into season 19, the latter remained as Ducky until the series’ monumental season 20 finale, in which he appeared remotely. Furthermore, David was the show’s final original cast member.

While David’s former co-stars are sharing their memories of working with The Man from U.N.C.L.E., NCIS’ official social team also issued a comment on Instagram about his d3ath.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of David McCallum and privileged that CBS was his home for so many years,” said the statement beneath a portrait of the Emmy Award nominee on September 25. “David was a gifted actor and author who was well-liked by people all over the world.” He lived a great life, and his legacy will go on forever via his family and the countless hours of cinema and television that will never be forgotten.”

“We will miss his warmth and endearing sense of humor that lit up any room or soundstage he stepped onto, as well as the brilliant stories he often shared from a life well-lived,” the message said in its conclusion. Our thoughts are with his wife Katherine, his family as a whole, and everyone who knew and loved David.

Our sympathies go out to David’s friends and family.
