Is Eddie Janko Truly Departing Blue Bloods..?

The CBS cop show “Blue Bloods” revolves primarily around the Reagan family, which spans several generations. Almost every adult member of the Reagan family works in law enforcement.

So, just as inter-family dynamics play a role in a typical episode of “Blue Bloods,” so do certain coworkers at each of the Reagan family members’ jobs.

Jamie Regan (Will Estes) is an NYPD officer who eventually rises to the rank of sergeant midway through the series. Jamie is assigned to work alongside Eddie Janko early in his career (Vanessa Ray).

While their collaboration begins as a professional one, it quickly evolves into a romantic one, culminating in their marriage.

Despite the possibility of a conflict of interest, Jamie and Eddie decide to work together even after Jamie’s promotion.

Season 12, Episode 14, on the other hand, appeared to introduce an obstacle into their work dynamic on its premiere, leading some viewers to speculate that Ray is about to leave her long-running “Blue Bloods” role.

Eddie will almost certainly continue to appear on Blue Bloods.

Eddie is recruited for an undercover job by the NYPD’s Special V1ct1ms Unit in “Blue Bloods” Season 12, Episode 14. Midway through her investigation, an acquaintance blows her cover, forcing her to be reassigned.

Nonetheless, at the end of the episode, Eddie reveals that, while she had previously expressed interest in becoming a sergeant alongside Jamie, she has decided to continue working as a detective with the Special V1ct1ms Unit.

While Eddie’s career path may diverge from Jamie’s, Vanessa Ray will most likely remain a member of the “Blue Bloods” cast for the foreseeable future.

Most notably, Ray has no upcoming projects other than upcoming episodes of “Blue Bloods” (via IMDb).

Furthermore, her most recent prior credit is from “Pretty Little Liars,” which ended in 2017, implying that “Blue Bloods” has been and continues to be her priority.

Ray also appeared alongside her “Blue Bloods” co-star Donnie Wahlberg in a video released on March 3 to their YouTube channel by his boy band New Kids on the Block, some time after the premiere of “Blue Bloods” Season 12, Episode 14.

This suggests, at the very least, that she maintains a cordial working relationship with her co-stars. Outside of Eddie’s in-fiction job change, there’s no indication that this will change anytime soon, so their collaboration is as good evidence as any that Eddie won’t be leaving anytime soon.

  1. As Blue Bloods winds down the popularity of Eddie and Jaimie remains high. I think that a spin off is needed for the pair to have their own show as private eye’s, they could call it “Blood Hounds”
