NCIS: Los Angeles fans, it appears that LL Cool J isn’t done with the TV series yet.
Longtime fans of the CBS drama were devastated when it ended after 14 seasons on the air on May 21. While many fans expected this to be the final time they saw the actor play NCIS Senior Special Agent Sam Hanna, they were pleasantly surprised when they watched the NCIS: Hawai’i season 2 finale. Not only did LL Cool J transport Sam to the tropics, but his appearance coincided with another sh0cking piece of acting news: he’s not leaving the NCIS universe.
On May 22, he posted on Instagram, “Couldn’t keep Sam Hanna off the case for too long!!” “Sam Hanna will join the @ncishawaiicbs team as a recurring guest star in the upcoming third season beginning tonight.” Season 2 finale of @ncishawaiicbs airs tonight at 10 p.m. ET/PT on @cbstv or @paramountplus for live streaming and on demand.”
He wasn’t the only one who was ecstatic about his latest foray into the world of NCIS. Shortly after he announced the news, the official NCIS: Hawai’i Instagram account joined in the fun. “LET’S DO THIS,” their comment read. “,” Vanessa Lachey, who plays Jane Tennant in the island spin-off, added.
Unsurprisingly, fans rushed to congratulate LL Cool J on his incredible career announcement. “Congratulations glad they’re not getting rid of Sam yet,” one user said in the Instagram comments section. “That’s AMAZING, and I’m so glad to see him back.” “, a different observer added. “YASSSSSS. “I’m overjoyed to hear this,” another follower exclaimed.
It remains to be seen how Sam will fit into Tennant’s world. Tennant and Kate Whistler (Tori Anderson) received a phone call from him after being abducted and att4cked in Venezuela, as seen in the season 2 finale. He was able to keep an eye on the other agents while also being overseas because he was last seen in Morocco trying to save Hetty (Linda Hunt) during NCIS: LA’s series finale. If this interaction is any indication, fans can expect to see LL Cool J around for a while.
Furthermore, the show’s executive producers are eager to expand on his character in the future.
“All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years,” Matt Basack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber said in an official statement to Entertainment Weekly. “[We] couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana for season 3.”
