CBS Boss Admits Canceling Blue Bloods Was Difficult

Despite its popularity, Blue Bloods is ending, much to the disappointment of fans and cast members. Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg have actively campaigned for the show’s return, highlighting its contradictory state. During a recent Deadline panel, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach acknowledged the difficulty of the decision to cancel the series.

CBS President Expresses Fans’ Dissatisfaction.

“I’m a big fan of TV first,” Amy Reisenbach explained to the crowd. “I sympathize and relate to all the fans out there who are disappointed that these shows are ending.” She expanded on the decision to end Blue Bloods, explaining that it was ultimately not viewed as a long-term source of profitability:

“We toss and turn, have sleepless nights, and endless discussions, but we look at all the numbers. We look at our projections for the future.”

Given how long Blue Bloods has been on the air, it has become increasingly expensive to maintain the costs of the crew and a star-studded cast.

Blue Bloods Experienced Skyrocketing Production Expenses.

When the main cast had to take a salary reduction to bring it back for another season, the cop drama’s fate was sealed. The Hollywood Reporter said in March 2023 that Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, and numerous producers have accepted to 25% wage cuts to keep the program profitable for its 14th season.

While it’s sad to see such a long-running show end, Amy Reisenbach reminds fans that numbers are the ultimate decision-maker in the TV business.

  1. No cancelation of Bluebloods was not as difficult as the decision is STUPID and very shortsighted. CBS will regret the decision and their ratings and viewers confidence in them will fall dramatically.

  2. Always all about money. Give me a break. I should think this is the show that’s making money not all the other garbage you have on.
Sad that these people took a salary cut to keep it on and off it’s going anyhow.
SHAME I won’t be watching CBS any longer no matter what.

However, in AMERICA GOD IS THE ALMIGHTY DOLLAR.

AGAIN –Why you people at CBS ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY IS TRULY PATHETIC.

  5. Well, as it’s the only show I watch on cbs, you won’t be having to bother with me anymore.

I realize I’m just a drop in the bucket, but there my be more drops out there….

  6. Why don’t the Big Wigs take a pay cut instead of cutting out the best show on the network. If you’re not willing to sacrifice a little yourself that you may find yourself on the losing end of the pay stick when it all shakes out in the wash

  7. This show is one show the whole family can watch together and not be worried about language etc. The dinner time shows how important to everyone that family values are. I understand if you are making so much money on the show but there has to be other shows that your network controls that has filth and language. As a Christian, raised Catholic, born again believer, my honest opinion is yall just want to get more trash on that will make you money and get rid of the wholesome shows.

  8. That decision was not easy, it was stupid and if the problem is money, start by cutting YOUR salaries before the channel changes its mind because there are millions of us who will stop sponsoring CBS when BB comes to an end.

  9. I understand the need to be profitable. I don’t understand why you just don’t let another network take it over. I do believe that CBS will lose a good many viewers in addition to myself and my family.
