Brian Dietzen of NCIS Just Reached A Major Milestone With The CBS Show

NCIS, the long-running CBS procedural, has undergone some changes for Season 19, including a new night and the departure of original cast member Mark Harmon. One change that the show is about to undergo will be announced in an upcoming episode, and it should be welcomed by fans. However, for star Brian Dietzen, it is less of a change and more of a milestone, as he will be writing a future episode of NCIS!

The actor, who has played Dr. Jimmy Palmer since Season 1, took to Instagram to share the exciting news with his fans. He’s written the script for Season 19’s 13th episode. He talked about the news in an exciting way, saying:

You guys, I got to collaborate on a script for @ncis cbs with my pal @mostxsw, and it’s been a fantastic adventure so far. We start filming this bad boy after Thanksgiving, and I couldn’t be more excited. This is my first time writing for the show, and it’s been a fantastic learning experience. I’ll keep you all updated as we go. I’m so excited to share this with you all. This week, I’m grateful for everything!

Because the star has obscured the episode title in the photo he included, there is no hint as to what the episode will be about. There’s a chance it’ll put Jimmy in the spotlight. In any case, it’ll be interesting to see what he brings to the series he’s been a part of for so long as a writer. You can read the actor’s entire post down below:

When it comes to their respective shows, many TV stars have made the transition from acting to directing and/or writing. For example, David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson wrote episodes of The X-Files years ago, and Chad Michael Murray even wrote an episode of One Tree Hill. Hopefully, this is just the beginning for the NCIS star, whether he’s writing for his own show or another.

Brian Dietzen isn’t the only star of the cr1me drama to venture into new territory recently. It was recently announced that co-star Wilmer Valderrama is working on a new CBS series. Fans may be concerned that he will leave his current show, but the new one is still in the early stages of development, so nothing is set in stone. Perhaps Dietzen and Valderrama can collaborate on some writing for the new project.

You can’t help but root for the actor as he takes on this new role after nearly 20 seasons. At least one other series alum has held a second title. Two episodes were directed by Michael Weatherly, who played NCIS Senior Field Agent Anthony DiNozzo for the first 13 seasons. With this, perhaps the Jimmy Palmer actor will be tempted to direct his next film. So, there you go!

NCIS Season 19, Episode 13 will most likely premiere on CBS in early 2022, directed by the show’s very own Brian Dietzen. Fans can also binge-watch classic episodes on Paramount+.
