The exact nature of Donnie Wahlberg’s mysterious “Rumblings” about Blue Bloods’ future is unknown, although they are certainly related to his wish for the show to continue. He has previously indicated a desire for Blue Bloods to have the same endurance as cr1me dramas like Law & Order: SVU.
However, the cast’s acceptance of pay cuts for season 14 hints at potential behind-the-scenes issues. With decreasing pay compared to previous seasons, securing the entire cast for season 15 might be difficult.
The Reagans, portrayed by Wahlberg, Tom Selleck, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, and Len Cariou, form the show’s backbone. Losing even one essential member would drastically affect Blue Bloods.
An alternative possibility exists: a Blue Bloods spinoff featuring Danny Reagan as the lead. This could address financial and casting challenges by surrounding Danny with a new, less expensive cast.
It’s unclear whether such a project will materialize, but Wahlberg’s optimism hints that the Blue Bloods universe may continue in some way.
