Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schirripa) debuted in Season 6 of Blue Bloods and hasn’t looked back since. The character has become a familiar and welcoming figure among the Reagan inner circle, particularly when it comes to Erin Reagan’s (Bridget Moynahan) desire to become D.A. However, things did become tense between them in Season 13.
There was a time when it appeared that Anthony and Erin would be splitting up for good, but Erin’s choice to remain firm and withdraw from the district attorney campaign meant that the dynamic team finished the season together.
Will they still be together in season 14?
Is Blue Bloods star Steve Schirripa leaving the show?
All indications point to yes. Schirripa has not expressed any dissatisfaction with the cast or crew, nor has he shown a wish to leave the show in any way.
While he was initially one of the cast members on the verge of being let go when CBS considered cutting the budget, Moynahan, along with Donnie Wahlberg and Tom Selleck, agreed to take a pay cut so that the show’s creative staff could remain together until 2024.
Schirripa has also lavished admiration on Moynahan, with whom he collaborates the most. “I’ve worked with many wonderful actresses.”
A lot. And she’s just as good as any of them,” he told PopCulture.com. “I mean, she’s a very underrated actress in my opinion.” She is always well-prepared. “I enjoy working with her.”
The actor, arguably most known for his time on The Sopranos (1999-07), also discussed the delight of playing Anthony and how he differs from previous roles he’s played.
“Even though [Anthony is] rough around the edges and a street guy, he’s a smart guy who knows his business,” he explained.
“He may be an old-school guy, but he knows his stuff.” Even though they quarrel and dispute, I believe she values what he has to say.”
He has a valid point. Anthony adds a distinct, outside-of-the-family perspective to Blue Bloods that is invaluable, and we are delighted that he will continue to do so.
