Cote de Pablo of NCIS revealed what she was most concerned about when she returned to the CBS set as Ziva David.
NCIS will soon reach a major milestone when it returns for its 20th season. Cote de Pablo was the first of the original cast members to leave in 2014, serving as a catalyst for the massive cast shake-up that would occur over the next few years. She returned a few years later, at the end of season 16 and the start of the next series.
NCIS fans were sh0cked when it was revealed in season 13’s Family First that Ziva David (played by Cote de Pablo) had been k1lled in a mortar att4ck.
Fortunately, de Pablo returned as Ziva, a woman who faked her own d3ath in order to protect her loved ones from dangerous people.
Fans were both surprised and delighted by her unexpected return to NCIS, as well as when she went to Paris to be with Agent Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) and their daughter Tali.
During her brief return to the set of NCIS, de Pablo discovered one aspect to be far more difficult than she remembered.
De Pablo revealed to Build in 2019 that it was the physical aspect of working on NCIS that she struggled to get back into.

“You know it’s funny, I mean, I’m a gym person, and I go all the time and everything,” she explained.
“And I think you try to stay active as much as possible, because you’re always walking in the city.”
“You read a script and then you see ‘Fight sequence,’ and you’re like, ‘Oh, here we go again.'”
“So you come to set and do your best with the fight sequence, and you do it once, but you know you’re going to do it for three hours because it takes three hours to shoot one.”
“The crazy thing about that is the first time we did it, once, completely from beginning to end, and I thought to myself, ‘Oh, my God.'” De Pablo continued. ‘How am I going to get through three hours of this?’
“We got it done through the magic of television; you pick up little chunks here and there, but they’re difficult.”
“About 150 people were saying, ‘Oh, my God, you make it look so easy,’ and I was like, ‘It’s not.'”
“I’m just looking down and saying, ‘Don’t worry, don’t panic, you’ll get through it’ – it wasn’t easy.”

With NCIS returning for season 20 this fall, fans are wondering if Ziva will return for the special occasion.
She was thankfully spared d3ath and is now enjoying her new life in Paris with Tony and Tali.
Michael Weatherly previously starred in CBS’ legal drama Bull, which he left earlier this year.
With neither star appearing to be working on other projects, could they return as a couple for Series 20?
NCIS has been renewed for another season as part of the network’s fall lineup.
NCIS Hawaii will return for a second season on the same night, with a crossover episode.
NCIS: Los Angeles will also return, but not until October 9 on CBS.
