Why CBS has Divided the 14th Season of Blue Bloods into 2 Parts?

Blue Bloods Season 14 is the series’ final season. But it won’t all come out at once. Why is the last season divided into two parts?

Blue Bloods fans received bad news last month. We learned that the series would be officially ending with the upcoming 14th season.

To be honest, we saw the writing on the wall. The actors took a significant pay cut to keep the show on the air, which appeared to be for only one season.

The cost of producing television has risen, and strong Friday linear ratings are no longer sufficient to justify the series’ costs. Furthermore, the SAG-AFTRA strike will have impacted TV networks and streaming services. One thing that may have surprised fans is that the show will not end in May 2024. Instead, the show will be divided into two parts.

Blue Bloods Season 14, Part 2 will premiere in the fall of 2024.

The plan is to air 10 episodes beginning in February 2024, followed by an eight-episode break until fall 2024.

While CBS has not stated why this is happening, it is most likely related to the episode count needed to conclude the story. Due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the majority of shows will have between 10 and 13 episodes this year, according to Deadline.

The only show getting more is Young Sheldon, which is also ending this season. It will have 14 episodes, which is likely due to the fact that it is a 30-minute comedy series that can easily film on weekends to get more episodes in the can.

Blue Bloods’ final season will consist of 18 episodes, which is about average for the show. There isn’t enough time to film all 18 episodes this TV season, and CBS will want to capitalize on the series’ strong linear ratings in fall 2024.

The best way to deal with this is to divide the season in half. We’ll probably bid the characters farewell around Thanksgiving or during the winter finales next year.

  1. This is not good!! Love the characters in this show!!! The writers should of gotten going with some love interests & relationships & maybe some baby news or even some story lines with the grandkids.
