Lucille Ball became a television pioneer through I Love Lucy, while also helping lead Hollywood history as co-founder of Desilu Productions alongside husband Desi Arnaz.
Although their marriage ended painfully in 1960, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz remained close while raising children Lucie Arnaz and Desi Arnaz Jr. together.
Ball died in 1989 at age 77, leaving behind an estimated $40 million estate. Her fortune was divided between her children and second husband, Gary Morton.
After Morton’s death, his inheritance passed to professional golfer Susie McAllister, who later auctioned Ball’s personal belongings, including jewelry, awards, love letters, and even her Rolls Royce.
The auction deeply upset Ball’s children, especially Lucie Arnaz, who fought unsuccessfully to stop the sale. Despite controversy, the collection reportedly earned more than $230,000 at auction.
