Fans of “Blue Bloods” aren’t the only ones who are upset about the show’s demise.
In a statement obtained by Variety, the show’s longtime star Tom Selleck stated in a statement that his role as patriarch Frank Reagan has been tremendously significant to him and his career.
Throughout the series, Selleck’s Frank serves as New York City Police Commissioner, like his father Henry Reagan (Len Cariou) did before him.
Selleck even managed to mention one of “Blue Bloods'” most recognizable throughlines – the family dinner scenes – in his speech.
For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a joy to work on a show that not only honors the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also demonstrates the value of family, according to Selleck’s poignant statement.
Working with these amazing actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true for me, and I’m grateful to have been a part of this wonderful group for over 275 episodes.

The 14th and final season of “Blue Bloods” premieres on February 16, 2024, with the second half following in the fall of that year.
