Sid Krofft, Co-Creator of Land of the Lost, Dies at 96

Sid Krofft, the legendary television producer and puppeteer behind classic shows like Land of the Lost and H.R. Pufnstuf, has died at the age of 96.

Krofft passed away peacefully in his sleep at the home of his friend and business partner, Kelly Killian.

Over a decades-long career, Krofft became known for creating imaginative and colorful children’s programming, often working alongside his brother. Together, they produced a string of popular shows including Donny & Marie, Mutt & Stuff, and Pryor’s Place.

Krofft’s career began at just 16 years old, performing in vaudeville and burlesque productions. He later worked with the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, where he developed his passion for puppetry.

Although puppetry was his first love, Krofft’s creativity helped shape a unique era of television that left a lasting impact on generations of viewers.

He is remembered as a pioneer in children’s entertainment and a visionary storyteller whose work continues to be celebrated.
