NCIS Reveals Why Tony and Ziva Never Married – Yet Fans Still Dream of ‘Tiva’ Happily Ever After

It feels like just last month that NCIS: Tony & Ziva kicked off its 2025 run… and it was! Now, the journey is nearly over with tonight’s penultimate episode, “Ride or Die.” This installment had plenty of action, moving the story to Isla Safira, Spain.
Martine finally teamed up with our protagonists, k1lled Aaron Graves in front of her former partner Jonah Markham, and Tali was kidnapped by Graves’ goons. You can stream the full episode on Paramount+ to see all the events unfold.
What really stood out in “Ride or Die” was finally learning why Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Ziva (Cote de Pablo) never got married years ago.
Why Tony and Ziva Cancelled Their Wedding
Back in November 2021, Tony and Ziva were set to marry in Barbados, but complications arose. Tony handled most of the wedding prep to keep Ziva stress-free. When a hurricane threatened to delay Tony’s father, Ziva agreed to postpone the wedding by a day. Meanwhile, Tali went missing. Tony initially tried to handle it quietly, but Ziva found out, sparking an argument. Once Tali was found, Tony and Ziva had a heartfelt conversation by the hotel pool about trust issues and the spontaneous proposal. They decided to cancel the wedding-but amicably.
Will Tiva Reunite?
Though the wedding was called off, present-day events on the show have seen Tony and Ziva reconnect romantically. With only one episode left this season, fans are hopeful the pair will realize they belong together. Cote de Pablo agreed to the spinoff only if Tony and Ziva got a “happy something” by season’s end, so at minimum, their love will continue-whether romantically or platonically. Even Tali’s concerns about her parents reuniting might evolve as she sees their relationship mature.
The final episode of NCIS: Tony & Ziva Season 1 drops next week on Paramount+. While the future of a Season 2 isn’t confirmed, you can continue watching NCIS Season 23, NCIS: Origins Season 2, and NCIS: Sydney Season 3 on the streaming service after they air on CBS.
