After Years of Waiting, Tony and Ziva Talk Openly About Their Marriage on the Show – Tiva’s Future Just Got Brighter

It might feel like NCIS: Tony & Ziva only just arrived on the 2025 TV schedule-and it did-but Season 1 is already barreling toward its finale. Tonight’s penultimate episode, “Ride or Die,” dropped on Paramount+, and it was a big one. The action shifted to Isla Safira, Spain, where Martine finally joined forces with Tony and Ziva, k1lled Aaron Graves in front of Jonah Markham, and-most shocking-Tali was kidnapped by Graves’ goons.
Amid all the excitement, the episode delivered something fans have been waiting years to learn: why Tony and Ziva never married.
Why Tony & Ziva Called Off Their Wedding
Back in November 2021, Tony and Ziva were set to marry in Barbados. Tony took charge of the last-minute details so Ziva could stay relaxed, and when a hurricane delayed the arrival of Tony’s father, Ziva agreed to postpone the ceremony by a day.
But things went sideways when Tali briefly went missing. Tony kept it from Ziva to avoid stressing her out, but a hotel employee accidentally spilled the news. After Tali was found, old wounds reopened-Tony snapped about Ziva’s years away from home, and the tension lingered.
That night by the pool, the couple had an honest conversation about trust issues and the impulsive nature of Tony’s proposal. In the end, they made a calm, mutual decision not to get married.
Will Tiva Stick the Landing?
Despite the canceled wedding, the present-day storyline has Tony and Ziva reconnecting romantically. With only one episode left, fans are hoping they’ll strengthen their bond rather than walk away again.
And there’s reason for optimism: Cote de Pablo reportedly only signed on to the spinoff with the promise that Tony and Ziva would get a “happy something” by the end of Season 1. Tali is unsure about her parents reconciling, but that may change as she sees they’re serious about making things work.
The Season 1 finale of NCIS: Tony & Ziva drops next week on Paramount+. It’s still unclear whether the show will return for Season 2, but fans can continue following the wider NCIS universe with new seasons of NCIS, NCIS: Origins, and NCIS: Sydney on CBS and Paramount+.
