‘NCIS: Sydney’ Is Getting a Makeover

Just when you thought the NCIS universe couldn’t get any bigger, it does. A new NCIS series is on the way. NCIS: Sydney will be produced for Paramount+ Australia and News 10 in Australia, it was recently announced. This will be the first time an international version of NCIS is created. Here’s everything we know about NCIS: Sydney so far.

When will the new season of ‘NCIS: Sydney’ premiere?

NCIS: Sydney is set to premiere on Paramount+ Australia and News 10 in 2023. As of this writing, it is unknown whether the series will be broadcast in the United States. According to CBS, the series will feature Australian actors and producers telling local stories. Shane Brennan, the creator of NCIS: Los Angeles, will work on the project.

‘NCIS’ franchises

JAG, which aired from 1995 to 2005, inspired the creation of NCIS. NCIS premiered in 2003. Mark Harmon played Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Michael Weatherly played Tony DiNozzo, David McCallum played Donald “Ducky” Mallard, Pauley Perrette played Abby Sciuto, Sasha Alexander played Caitlin Todd, and Pancho Demmings played Gerald Jackson (Ducky’s assistant before Jimmy Palmer took over).

In 2009, NCIS: Los Angeles was released as a follow-up to NCIS. NCIS: New Orleans, which aired from 2014 to 2021, was the next franchise to be introduced. NCIS: Hawaii, starring Vanessa Lachey, is the most recent NCIS spinoff, premiering in September 2021.

The ‘NCIS’ cast is leaving.

There have been numerous cast departures over the years. Alexander was the first main character to leave NCIS. Her character’s demise was unexpected after she was shot in the head. Caitlin is having a conversation one moment, then she’s on the floor after being hit by a bullet the next.

The most difficult exit was Harmon’s as Gibbs. Many fans expected the character to remain on the show until the very end, but that did not happen. Gibbs decides to retire to Alaska and leave his job after a lengthy suspension. He had a difficult life and a career that had begun to wear on him, so it was finally time for him to slow down and enjoy life.

Weatherly’s departure was another disappointment for fans. From 2003 to 2016, he played Tony DiNozzo. He went on to play Bull for six seasons. Some fans are hoping that Weatherly will return to NCIS now that Bull has come to an end.
