The hit procedural NCIS is set to return for its 22nd season in the 2024-2025 TV lineup, after being renewed in April alongside CBS comedy The Neighborhood. Even after two decades, NCIS remains a fan favorite, with three spinoffs (New Orleans, Los Angeles, and Hawai’i) already concluded and new projects on the way, including NCIS: Sydney, NCIS: Origins, and a highly anticipated Tony & Ziva series featuring Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo.
Recap of Season 21: Where the Story Left Off
Season 21 concluded on a cliffhanger, leaving Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) at a career crossroads. She was given the position of Chief REACT Training Officer, which would take her away from her NCIS team and boyfriend, Dr. Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen). Jimmy has an emotional breakdown after learning the truth. Meanwhile, Parker (Gary Cole) had a strange recollection about a young girl named Lily, although he later denied knowing her.
Is Katrina Law departing?
Katrina Law’s future on NCIS remains uncertain. While she has expressed hope to return, her character is clearly at a turning point. Law suggested that while her character might take the new job, there are multiple reasons she could return to the team in D.C., such as her love for the team or Jimmy, or even a new development within NCIS itself.
What About Season 22?
There is currently no word about specific plotlines for Season 22. However, the Season 21 finale did not indicate the departure of important cast members Gary Cole, Sean Murray (McGee), Wilmer Valderrama (Torres), Brian Dietzen (Palmer), Rocky Carroll (Vance), or Diona Reasonover (Kasie).
Has Filming Begun?
Yes! Brian Dietzen (Jimmy Palmer) confirmed filming had begun in July by sharing a photo of his character’s signature glasses on social media, signaling the start of production for Season 22.
