NCIS: Origins fans can look forward to seeing Mark Harmon in the CBS spinoff. Harmon, who played Leroy Jethro Gibbs on NCIS for many years, will appear briefly in the opening episode.
During a panel discussion, NCIS: Origins co-showrunner David J. North confirmed that new footage of Harmon was shot for the cameo, saying, “I hope the audience will be excited to see him after so many years.” While North didn’t reveal the context of Harmon’s appearance, he hinted that Harmon could return in future episodes of the Gibbs-centered prequel.
The series would follow a young Gibbs, portrayed by Austin Stowell, as he begins his career as a Special Agent at the NIS Camp Pendleton office in 1991. Harmon will also work as the show’s narrator and executive producer.
The cast includes Kyle Schmid as a young Mike Franks, Mariel Molino as Special Agent Lala Dominguez, and Tyler Abercrumbie as Mary Jo Hayes, among others.
NCIS: Origins premieres with a two-episode event on Monday, Oct. 14, at 9/8c, with its regular time slot starting on Monday, Oct. 21, at 10 pm.
