Callen’s deep fake made an appearance in the jaw-dropping cliffhanger, leaving NCIS LA fans on the edge of their seats.
This week saw the return of CBS’ acclaimed drama NCIS Los Angeles for another episode of cr1me and mystery. After being introduced last week, fans got a better look at Callen’s (Chris O’Donnell) deep fake and were left with a slew of unanswered questions after an unexpected cliffhanger.
The deep fake technology was first introduced to viewers in the season 12 episode titled ‘Imposter Syndrome,’ after the NCIS team was duped by Agent Fatima’s (Medalion Rahimi) lookalike.
During this episode, Sam Hanna (LL Cool J) discovered that a deep replica of Callen had been created.
The technology was able to replicate people’s voices in order to take over anyone’s identity, including the d3ad.
Although the case appeared to be closed, the technology reappeared in the previous episode of NCIS, when Callen received a call from a doctor about an unfamiliar video appointment.
Dr. Hodge (Tom Virtue) had requested a follow-up appointment despite the fact that the agent claimed he hadn’t seen the doctor in over a year.
Callen later received a voice mail from the bank informing him that his loan application had been denied, and while he dismissed it, his mind was taken back to the first deep fake.
However, in a recent episode, viewers caught a glimpse of the deep fake who resembled Callen, and fans were taken aback.
They took to social media to express their sh0ck at the sh0cking incident.
“What the f**k?” tweeted @GibsonMenace77. CALLEN HAS AN EVIL TWIN?!”
Meanwhile, @followcyp predicted: “The deep fake guy is back.” I’m sure he was a part of that program as well!”
“CALLEN DOPPELGANGER WAIT WHAT?!?!?” tweeted another user, @CauseRsisepic.
@TheKevNation tweeted: “Wait…
TWO CALLERS? Someone made a clone of him.”
Meanwhile, @KrystalManning2 tweeted: “Whoa! At the end, there’s a Callen resemblance… What a fantastic episode!”
“Two Callens?” said @Imostlylurk. Anna has been Catfished! What in the name of deep fake hell? “CSI: Los Angeles.”
In the most recent episode, the NCIS team discovered that the deep fake had made an unwelcome return after they, too, had been duped by Callen’s lookalike.
This put Callen in the awkward position of having to confront and confront himself in order to stop them before things got worse.
The deep fake was able to replicate Callen’s voice and face and had already gained access to his bank and medical history.
As a result, it was only a matter of time before the person behind the technology gained access to the NCIS’s confidential information.
The deep fake was also attempting to harm Callen’s girlfriend Anna Kolcheck (Bar Paly) by interfering with situations involving her.
Fans will have to wait and see if the team can stop the deep fake and find out who was behind the technology.
