NCIS LA: Fans in turmoil as Callen and Anna engagement derailed: ‘Ruined the whole thing!’

NCIS fans were outraged when a heart-to-heart between Callen and his girlfriend’s father sabotaged his plans to propose.

Agent Callen had marriage on the mind in the latest episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. The CBS spin-off finally returned tonight after taking a holiday break and delivered another thrilling instalment. Sadly, fans will have to wait at least another week to see Callen take his relationship with Anna Kolcheck to the next level.

NCIS: Los Angeles returned with its seventh episode of season 12 this Sunday, but many fans were left disappointed by this week’s disappointing outcome.

G. Callen (played by Chris O’Donnell) and former ATF Agent Anna Kolceck (Bar Paly) have been dating on-and-off since her debut in the sixth season.

With their relationship taking strides in recent instalments, viewers were preparing for the waterworks as their engagement was heavily tipped for season 12.

Fans were overjoyed to have the spin-off back on screens after taking a three week break over the holidays.

In the ongoing season’s winter premiere, tried to work up the courage to propose to Anna whilst helping her father, Arkady (Vyto Ruginis) with an unusual request.

Meanwhile, Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) is finally on the team, Devin Roundtree (Caleb Castille) joins the action and Eric Beale (Barrett Foa) returns with his divisive new look.

Unfortunately, the series returned in the midst of more uncertainty for the series, as new coronavirus measures in Los Angeles County have delayed production by another week.

This episode had even more bad news for fans, as a heart-to-heart with Anna’s father Arkady talked him out of going through with the proposal.

Much of the audience was furious by the latest development, with several fans taking to Twitter to try and convince Callen out of his cold feet.

One viewer said: “Callen! Do not let him talk you out of proposing! You love Anna! Anna loves you! Arkady doesn’t know everything that matters. You two are wonderful together!!”

And another said: “Arkady just ruined this whole thing! The look on Callen’s face said it all.”

Alongside loved up regulars Marty Deeks and Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah), Callen and Anna have become one of fans’ favourite couples as their romance has grown in recent seasons.

While Callen’s reaction to Arkady’s advice seemed to indicate he won’t be getting down on one knee – at least for some time – other fans were less convinced.

Although their relationship remains in limbo for the time being, next week’s episode could see Callen and Anna take the plunge.

Another fan wrote: “That’s what I feared. I hoped Callen would share his intention with Arkady. Yet the big oaf’s words managed to make him rethink it.

“I just got part of my feelings hurt. Thanks, NCIS: LA. It really sounded too good to be true, like many other things.”

Normally one of the show’s most enjoyable guest appearances, Arkady managed to get his name scratched from the fanbase’s good books for his actions this week.

Thankfully, Deeks managing to ace his interview for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center was good enough news to distract from Callen’s crushing disappointment.

Plus, discovering the newest trainee’s middle name is ‘Atticus’ will give fans plenty to talk about during the run-up to next week’s episode, Love Kills.
