NCIS L.A star LL Cool J Speaks About What He’s Learned After 14 Seasons

Don’t mind LL Cool J, the star of NCIS: Los Angeles, taking some time to reflect on his show. It will close its doors after 14 seasons later this year. On the CBS drama, LL Cool J plays Special Agent Sam Hanna.

On Thursday, LL Cool J spoke with Entertainment Tonight reporter Nischelle Turner. He admitted that playing the same character for nearly 15 years had taught him a lot.

The show ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ LL Cool J, the show’s star, stated that his time on the show “taught me a lot.”

“I learned a lot,” LL Cool J said. “Because I work with people from all over the country and the world every day. I would never have been exposed on the same day. I have one guy celebrating Rosh Hashanah, another from West Virginia, another in a biking thing, another Irish guy, and… this person from the islands, and I work with all of these people every day. As a result, you learn.

“You realize that people are people,” he explained. “You learn that people are human and all of those unconscious bias that you have that makes you hesitate to embrace certain types of people, all that falls away because you realize everybody’s the same. It’s different, but we’re all the same, you know what I mean?”

Sam’s approach to life, according to the actor, has influenced his personal life away from work.

With his character constantly in the crosshairs due to his day job, LL Cool J, 55, said that Sam’s mentality and approach to life has, in some ways, spilled over to his real life away from the set.

“The way he thinks,” said LL Cool J. “They must plan ahead of time. You can’t help but learn his understanding of military strategy because you’re immersed in it every day. Their approach to life. The distinction between strategy, tactics, and operations is useful, but it was the humanity that made the difference for me. It’s just a cool person.”
