Daniela Ruah is still booking other roles now that she isn’t busy starring as Kensi Blye on NCIS: Los Angeles (the long-running NCIS spin-off ends on May 21st), and she is spending time with her two children.
The actress doesn’t often share glimpses of her family life on social media, let alone of her children, but for Mother’s Day in the United States on Sunday, she had to make an exception.
The actress and mother-of-two is married to David Paul Olsen, the brother of her on-screen husband Eric Christian Olsen (who plays Marty Deeks). They married in 2014 and have two children, son River Isaac, ten, and daughter Sierra Esther, six.
In honor of Mother’s Day, Daniela took to Instagram on Monday to share a photo of a tender moment she shared with her two children, Sierra and River napping on their mother.
She captioned the post appropriately, “Mothering,” and added in Portuguese, “To be a mom…” She also shared a photo of her children and their grandmother, Daniela’s mother Catarina, swimming in a pool under a beautiful, bright blue sky.
She also had to include her other child, her family’s pup, who appears to be a German Shepard mix and is captured in a photo receiving a kiss on the head from Daniela, in the tribute.
Fans reacted positively to the sweet glimpse of the star’s children, writing in the post’s comments section, “Dani and her sweet kids… “What a lovely picture,” and “Such lovely pictures.” “Happy Mother’s Day, Dani!” and “Beautiful family & Happy Mother’s Day, Dani!” “Happy Mother’s Day to you, Dani!” wrote another fan. You are the best mother to your children!”
Daniela met her husband and the father of her two children in 2011, after her co-star Eric thought they would be a good match. On The Queen Latifah Show in 2014, he stated, “When they got together, because he came on to do stunts, I would say something nice about her to him and then say something to him about her.”
“That was enough to kinda get them started in conversation,” he continued, “and it became this wonderful relationship.”
They married on June 19, 2014, in a beautiful wedding in Portugal – Daniela is Portuguese-American – just a few months after welcoming their first child, River.
Daniela’s final appearance as her brother-in-law’s on-screen wife will air on Sunday, May 21st, with the final episode of NCIS: Los Angeles, the first and longest running NCIS spin-off, after 14 seasons. Following the series finale, there will be a one-hour farewell special titled A Salute to NCIS: Los Angeles. Kevin Frazier, who co-hosts Entertainment Tonight, will host the tribute episode, which will air on May 21st at 10 p.m. EST. It will include both old and new interviews with cast members, as well as plenty of behind-the-scenes footage from the previous 14 years.
