NCIS: How Long Will Agent Alden Parker Be Away From His Team in Season 20..?

NCIS Special Agent Alden Parker has been on the run with his ex-wife Vivian Kolchak for several weeks. However, things took a turn for the worse when fans discovered Kolchak was part of the plot to ruin Parker and his career. As we wait for the premiere of NCIS’s 20th season, we wonder how long the team leader will be gone.

According to CarterMatt, writers are unlikely to keep Parker separated from the NCIS team for more than two episodes. Season 19 began with a heavy, detailed storyline centered on former Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs. Throughout those episodes, the writers set up Gibbs’ departure from the government agency. The season 18 finale storyline was carried over into four new episodes when the show returned to CBS last fall.

The Parker character’s newness, combined with the show’s procedural format, means the NCIS lead cast member won’t be away from the set for long. According to the outlet, McGee, Torres, and Knight may soon discover Kolchak’s true intentions, possibly even during the premiere. Following that, they’ll work quickly to untangle the mess that the FBI agent appears to have helped create.

If this is the case, we can expect the suspenseful finale plot line to wrap up relatively quickly. However, as CarterMatt points out, this does not rule out the possibility of the Alden/Kolchak storyline returning later in the season. After all, the writers of NCIS have repeatedly demonstrated how quickly the tide of fictional events can change.

Will ‘NCIS’ Fans See a Return of Gibbs This Fall..?

Longtime fans are eager to see Mark Harmon reprise his role as series patriarch Leroy Jethro Gibbs after his emotional exit in the fourth episode of season 19. And because the writers chose to leave the door open for the character’s potential return rather than k1ll him off, which is also a common decision when a cast member leaves their role, Gibbs’ return isn’t entirely implausible.

However, as showrunner Steven D. Binder has stated of NCIS alum Michael Weatherly, the actor’s decision to return to the show is entirely up to him. Nonetheless, with season 20 filming about to begin, NCIS fans have taken to Reddit to discuss possible strategies for the character’s return.

Above all, fans emphasized the slew of issues that plagued Special Agent Alden Parker’s career, particularly his time at NCIS. Parker joined NCIS after being fired from the FBI for refusing to arrest Gibbs. He quickly adapted to the role previously held by Gibbs. Parker, however, is potentially facing murd3r charges less than a full season into his position with the agency.

As a result, one fan on the platform asked, “Do you all think the FBI is after Agent Parker because he let Gibbs go?” I was just wondering because Parker’s former boss was very angry when he reminded Parker that his job was to bring Gibbs in, not set him free in Alaska.”

Unfortunately, many fans do not anticipate Gibbs’ return anytime soon.

“I believe Mark [Harmon] is content to be off-screen,” one fan speculated. “I honestly believe we’ve seen the last of Gibbs,” said another.
