With NCIS: Tony & Ziva rolling along on the 2025 Paramount+ schedule, it’s still surreal to see Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo back in the franchise after so many years.
Weatherly, who’s played Tony DiNozzo since his early JAG days, recently joked about an NCIS: Retirement Home spinoff – and honestly, many fans would probably watch it.
The NCIS franchise has been running for over two decades and spawned multiple spinoffs, the newest being the Europe-set Tony and Ziva series. While promoting the show on Instagram, Weatherly pointed out that longtime viewers will notice throwbacks to the “old days,” just as future shows might reference what’s happening now.
The idea of Tony, Ziva, and even McGee solving cr1mes from a retirement home decades from now is hilarious – and not totally unimaginable, given how enduring the franchise is.
For now, NCIS: Retirement Home is purely a joke, and fans get to enjoy Tony and Ziva back in action. The first three episodes dropped in early September, and new episodes arrive weekly. With the season already halfway through, the story has been intense and full of surprises – probably not the kind of chaos you could pull off in a retirement home.
Meanwhile, the flagship NCIS is heading into Season 23 and still going strong. If Law & Order: SVU can reach 27 seasons, there’s no reason NCIS couldn’t keep going for years to come.
