It is almost time to say goodbye to the Reagans for good. Blue Bloods, CBS’ long-running police drama, will premiere its 14th and final season this year. When will Blue Bloods return in 2024? Continue reading to learn more about the cancelled blockbuster drama.

CBS is giving the final installment a proper send-off with an expanded season split into two halves, totaling 18 episodes.

It stars Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan, and Vanessa Ray.

The Selleck-led series concludes on a good note. Last season, Blue Bloods was the most-watched primetime program of the night and the third-most-watched broadcast drama, with 9.54 million total viewers.

According to Deadline, the show was also among the top ten series on Paramount+ in terms of minutes viewed and channels viewed on Pluto TV.

Unfortunately, Blue Bloods was the third show from the CBS/Paramount network to be canceled in 2024. CBS has confirmed that the Big Bang Theory prequel, Young Sheldon, will end with Season 7. SEAL Team, Paramount+’s military drama, will also expire after seven seasons in 2024.

For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a joy to work on a program that not only honors the men and women who protect and serve in New York City, but also emphasizes the value of family, said Selleck, who plays Reagan family patriarch and commissioner Frank Reagan.

He went on, “Working with these wonderful performers, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true, and I’m honored to have been a part of this extraordinary group for over 275 episodes.

Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for your unwavering support, and we extend our gratitude to the fans who joined us for dinner every Friday night.”

When will Blue Bloods return in 2024?

Blue Bloods will return on Friday, February 16th at 10 p.m. ET. Part one of Season 14 will premiere initially, with the second half of the season, consisting of eight episodes, arriving in the fall of 2024.

Why does Blue Bloods conclude after 14 seasons?

Despite Blue Bloods’ great popularity on television and internet, talks for Season 14 in March 2022 proved challenging. According to Deadline, CBS is seeking “significant budget cuts – 25% for above-the-line talent, including actors – amid increased fiscal scrutiny in the media business and a push to contain production costs.”

To rescue the show and the jobs of hundreds of crew people, Blue Bloods’ cast and producers agreed to salary cuts for the coming season. According to the entertainment news site, the decision to cancel Blue Bloods was made after the SAG-AFTRA strike, “when the size of the order was determined and the idea to split it into two parts came about.”

  1. You are canceling a great show. For me I do not watch comedies nor do I watch a lot of reality. I do sometimes watch survivor. But you are canceling the good shows. It’s very sad. I can’t watch your new show as soon as I get interest they are gone..

  2. I am also very upet that they are doing this I guess will have to deal with it until they solve this —I hope they pick up where they left off Blue Blood is such a very good show —Thomas Sellect and the familly are great on the show also —-I hope we the veiwers don’t have to wait long

  3. You r so wrong to take off the one show which shows family values! Children today don’t get that much at home or school! You will be helping to destroy the only the only normalcy young people will see. I am 75 years old and was brought up with shows that showed what a real family looks like. They shows taught me respect, value for others and love for mankind. Now all you see is death and violence; what is wrong with u people? U r suppose to protect our lives and our children’s lives by showing them the shoes like blue bloods. I am disappointed that you r taking this off and will replace with some juke show; for what more money? You just just came back on my tV since 3 or 4 months ago for talks with Direct TV, well I guess I will go back to channel 12! I only get regular channels because they don’t offer internet in my area; thanks for taking your show away .

  4. I believe y’all are taking! What a huge mistake. This is guess I’ll have to go to Hallmark and find something to watch. Blue Bloods is the great show.
Unbelievable taking off a top show and leaving on a ton of crap. Also makes no sense such a backwards world we live in.
