Mark Harmon, who played Leroy Gibbs on “NCIS” for 19 seasons, is open to returning. In an interview with ET Online, he expressed appreciation for the show’s longevity and hinted that Gibbs might take on another case in Season 21.

He believes Gibbs is currently pursuing his hobbies, but he could be drawn back into law enforcement.

“He’s probably sitting in a stream up in Alaska fishing,” Harmon went on to say. “Will he be able to get out of the stream?” I’m not sure. But if he is, I’m not aware of it.”

Harmon indicates Gibbs’ fate rests with the creators, leaving the door open for a comeback. He expresses missing his former colleagues but might request a lighter schedule if he returns to the series.

Mark Harmon longs to see the NCIS team.

Although Mark Harmon exited “NCIS” on-screen, he remains an executive producer. In an interview with People, the 72-year-old actor, still connected to his former co-workers, clarified that while he took a break, he is not retired from acting.

“I was just tired for a long time.” I took the workload seriously because it was heavy. I miss the camaraderie, the lunches, and learning about other people’s lives, but it’s a job.”

Post-“NCIS,” Harmon delved into projects like writing “Ghosts of Honolulu.”

Having taken a break, he may now be inclined to reconnect with old friends.
