Mark Harmon Breaks Silence After CBS Drops Shocking ‘NCIS’ Bombshell

In a move that’s sure to thrill fans, Mark Harmon is officially returning to the NCIS universe.
It’s been four years since we last saw him as Leroy Jethro Gibbs on the CBS drama, and while he’s remained involved as an executive producer and narrator on the spinoff NCIS: Origins (where Austin Stowell plays a younger Gibbs), nothing compares to seeing Mark on screen. Now, fans’ patience is finally paying off.
According to Deadline on October 28, Harmon will make a special guest appearance during the NCIS/NCIS: Origins crossover event on November 11, 2025. The two-hour event will bring the shows together in a storyline fans won’t want to miss.
“Four years ago, Gibbs disappeared to Alaska to live a life of solitude,” said co-showrunners David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal. “We know how much fans have missed him. On Nov. 11, Mark Harmon returns as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the Origins hour of the crossover. And let’s just say-Gibbs is no longer alone.”
Fans immediately flooded social media with excitement. “The legend returns 🔥,” one wrote. “I want to cry! Can’t believe we get to see Gibbs again ❤️,” added another.
Mark himself expressed enthusiasm about stepping back into Gibbs’ shoes. “I’m very proud of the storytelling David and Gina are doing on Origins,” he said. “They came to me with an idea for Gibbs that I liked, and it seemed like a good time to check in with him. I hope fans enjoy it.”
Mark Harmon is back, and the NCIS world couldn’t be more excited.
