Loretta Lynn’s Granddaughter Lynn Massey Passes Away After a ‘Difficult’ Health Issue

Loretta Lynn’s family is mourning the loss of her eldest granddaughter, Lynn Massey, who passed away on August 20 after a long and difficult health battle. The news was shared on Loretta Lynn’s verified Instagram and Facebook pages, expressing gratitude for the prayers and love shown to their family.

Loretta Lynn’s eldest child, Betty Sue, died in 2013 from emphysema complications, and Massey, 59, was her daughter. A photo accompanying the news shows Massey beaming cheerfully in front of racks of her grandmother’s vinyl albums.

Loretta Lynn, who passed away two years ago at the age of 90, was a trailblazer in country music, known for challenging gender roles with hits like “Rated ‘X'” and “Don’t Come Home A Drinkin’ (With Lovin’ on Your Mind).” She was the first woman to be named entertainer of the year at both the Country Music Association Awards and the Academy of Country Music Awards.

The Lynn family has experienced further losses, including Lynn’s grandson Jeffrey Allen Lynn, who died unexpectedly at the age of 47 in 2016. Despite these challenges, her grandchildren continue to celebrate her legacy, with Emmy Russell recently competing on “American Idol” and Tayla Lynn pursuing a career in music.
