NCIS delivered a nostalgic treat this season by bringing back Roma Maffia as former Special Agent Vera Strickland during its crossover with NCIS: Origins – an event that also surprised fans with Mark Harmon’s on-screen return as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. But according to star Sean Murray, the reunion parade may not be over yet.
Speaking with TVLine, Murray teased, “Someone from the world of NCIS who everyone knows very well but hasn’t seen in a very long time may pop up.”
With Harmon already accounted for, the mystery points to another major blast from the past. And an official tease for the Dec. 16 episode offers a juicy hint: “Knight is given her first NCIS: Elite mission, which involves tracking down a former member of the team.”
Fans are already buzzing about possible contenders. At the top of the list are beloved duo Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, fresh off their own Paramount+ spinoff. Michael Weatherly surprised viewers with a cameo in the NCIS Season 21 premiere, but Cote de Pablo hasn’t appeared on the flagship series in five years.
If Tiva is still busy dodging danger across Europe, other long-absent favorites could resurface – including Pauley Perrette’s iconic Abby Sciuto or Emily Wickersham’s Eleanor Bishop.
Whoever it is, NCIS seems ready to deliver another major homecoming.
