Everything We Know So Far About the ‘NCIS’ and ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Crossover Event

NCIS did not introduce the spinoff NCIS: Hawai’i through a backdoor pilot prior to its premiere last fall. But there is undeniably a link between the two series. And fans will get a sneak peek during the first season of the spinoff. A major NCIS crossover event has been officially added to the CBS primetime schedule — here’s what we know so far.

Nick Torres and Jessica Knight of ‘NCIS’ are on their way to Hawai’i.

The special crossover event was announced in early 2022, and it was shared on social media by stars from both NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i.

Wilmer Valderrama and Katrina Law revealed in the clip that their characters, Special Agents Nick Torres and Jessica Knight, would be traveling to Hawai’i to work on a case.

“It’ll be great to be back on the island solving cr1mes,” Law, who played Quinn Liu on Hawai’i Five-0, told the camera.

Vanessa Lachey, who plays Jane Tennant, the leader of Hawai’i’s team, revealed at the end of the video that the crossover event was set for Monday, March 28.

‘Starting Over/T’NT’ is the title of the ‘NCIS’ crossover episode.

The special crossover will serve as NCIS Season 19, Episode 17, and NCIS: Hawai’i Season 1, Episode 18. “Starting Over” is the title of the first hour, and “T’NT” is the title of the second hour.

Torres and Knight will be working with the entire Hawai’i team, according to photos from the episode. Tennant is played by Lachey, Ernie Malik is played by Jason Antoon, Jesse Boone is played by Noah Mills, and Kai Holman is played by Alex Tarrant.

Guest stars include Diona Reasonover (Kasie Hines) and Gary Cole (Alden Parker) from NCIS. They will, however, appear via videolink. Torres and Knight will be followed as they travel to Hawai’i after learning that a key witness in an old expl0sion case is present and holding crucial evidence.

Crossovers have a long history in the franchise.

With three different spinoffs produced by NCIS during its 19-season run — Los Angeles, New Orleans, and Hawai’i — there have been numerous opportunities for crossovers. And CBS has taken full advantage of the situation.

The first crossover in the NCIS universe occurred in the episodes “Legend: Part 1 and Part 2” in 2009. This was the first episode of NCIS: Los Angeles. With the two-part crossover episode “Crescent City” in 2014, Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and his team helped launch NCIS: New Orleans.

NCIS and New Orleans had two separate two-part crossovers in 2016 and 2017. In 2019 and 2020, David James Elliott and Catherine Bell reprised their roles as Captain Harmon Rabb and Lieutenant Colonel Sarah “Mac” Mackenzie on NCIS: Los Angeles.

Several NCIS cast members have appeared as guest stars on Los Angeles and New Orleans over the years. Tony DiNozzo is played by Michael Weatherly, Abby Scuito is played by Pauley Perrette, and Leon Vance is played by Rocky Carroll.

NCIS has also shared characters with other CBS dramas, such as Hawai’i Five-0. As a result, Law’s two characters (Jessica Knight and Quinn Lui) are technically part of the same universe.

The NCIS and NCIS: Hawai’i crossover event airs on CBS on Monday, March 28.
