Eric Christian Olsen, star of NCIS: Los Angeles, has landed a major new role away from the CBS drama ‘Let’s Make It Hot’

Eric Christian Olsen, known for playing Marty Deeks on NCIS: Los Angeles, has landed a significant new role at CBS. Olsen took to Instagram to announce his departure from the NCIS franchise for a new series, Rescue: MIA. He shared his excitement, writing, “Aaaaaaaaalright, who wants to relocate to Miami?” while thanking his creative partners and CBS Studios.

Rescue: MIA will center on a well-known family of first responders in Miami who work together to rescue lives, despite long-held family secrets threatening their unity. Because the project is still under development, all additional information, including casting, will be kept confidential. Olsen will serve as a producer for the series, although it is unclear whether he will also appear in it.

Fans congratulated Olsen on Instagram, but many expressed concern about his future on NCIS: Los Angeles, where Marty Deeks has been a fan favorite since 2009. Although there’s no confirmation of Deeks’ departure, NCIS creator R. Scott Gemmill hinted that upcoming episodes may explore Marty’s past more deeply.

For now, viewers will have to wait and see how Olsen mixes his new position with his long-running character on NCIS: Los Angeles.
