Just hours after news broke that NCIS: Tony & Ziva would not return for Season 2 on Paramount+, Cote de Pablo shared a heartfelt message that left fans both emotional and grateful.
Posting an old photo of herself and Michael Weatherly walking away together after her final NCIS scene 12 years ago, de Pablo wrote:
“We had no idea then that Tony and Ziva’s story would one day come full circle… Today, this photo carries a beautiful new meaning. May Tony and Ziva walk into their forever.”
Her message quickly drew love from fans – and from Brian Dietzen, who left a heart in the comments.
Earlier that day, de Pablo and Weatherly released a joint statement thanking fans for allowing them to revisit Tony and Ziva’s story and finally give the couple their long-awaited happy ending.
Thankfully, the series finale left Tony and Ziva in a peaceful place: reunited, raising Tali together, cleared of all charges, and no longer on the run. While plans for a Season 2 storyline were scrapped, fans were spared a painful cliffhanger.
De Pablo later reflected that marriage wasn’t necessary for Tony and Ziva’s future – honesty and emotional connection mattered more. Weatherly hinted that even in happiness, life always finds a way to challenge them.
