Four-Time Stanley Cup Champion Claude Lemieux Dies at 60

Former NHL star Claude Lemieux has died at the age of 60.

Known for his intense and competitive style of play, Lemieux enjoyed a 21-season NHL career, playing for the Montreal Canadiens, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Phoenix Coyotes, Dallas Stars, and San Jose Sharks.

During his career, Lemieux won four Stanley Cups in 1986, 1995, 1996, and 2000. He was also awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1995 after helping lead the New Jersey Devils to a championship with an outstanding playoff performance.

Lemieux appeared in 1,215 regular-season games and 234 playoff games, recording 944 career points. He was originally selected 26th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1983 NHL Draft.

Just days before his passing, Lemieux participated in a pregame ceremony at the Bell Centre during a Canadiens playoff game.

The NHL Alumni Association said it was devastated by the news, while tributes from across the hockey world have continued to pour in.

Lemieux is survived by his wife, Deborah, and their four children.
