Bridget Moynahan Looks a Lot Like Her Character in Blue Bloods – Than You Might Expect

“Blue Bloods” has given a nice combination of hard-hitting action and family drama since its debut on CBS in 2010, as one would expect from a show about a multigenerational law enforcement family from New York.

Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) works behind the scenes as a New York assistant district attorney, unlike her police officer brothers Danny (Donnie Wahlberg) and Jamie (Will Estes) and their father, police chief Frank (Tom Selleck).

She is the Reagan family’s middle daughter, and she has always functioned as her siblings’ and father’s legal compass as they are all connected with the New York Police Department to some extent.

According to her latest comments, Moynahan’s character isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. “We realize how fortunate we are to be on this show—especially such a long-running show.”

It doesn’t happen very often, so when you’re dealing with people who express thanks, it only adds gasoline to the fire. “Everyone wants to come to work and do their best,” the actress told Glamour.

So, how similar is she to her favorite “Blue Bloods” character?

Bridget Moynahan and Erin are strikingly similar.

Bridget Moynahan played Erin Reagan in her late 30s, when she was a single mother of a 3-year-old kid with NFL legend Tom Brady.

While she is not as stiff as her character, she had plenty of other similarities to point out in her Glamour interview. “Growing up in an Irish Catholic family with all brothers and all boy cousins, I’ve just been surrounded by men my whole life,” said the actress. “And being a single mom [to onscreen daughter Nicky] as well.”

This appears to be an excellent example of life mimicking art. We can’t picture anyone else playing Erin Reagan, who never backs down from a fight or accepts being looked down on because she is a woman in a male-dominated field.

This was perhaps best exemplified in the Season 10 episode “The First 100 Days,” in which Erin reevaluates her life following a car accident, culminating in an emotional reconciliation with her ex-husband, Nicky’s father Jack (Peter Hermann), and an explosive family dinner scene in which she calls out her brothers and father for their dark dinner table topics and lets them know that she, too, deals with extremely stressful situations at work.

Moynahan believes she would make a fine lawyer if obtaining a degree wasn’t such a difficult undertaking.” I certainly have gained a greater appreciation for the law,” she continued.

That admiration is understandable given that her character is a New York assistant district attorney and, as previously said, the only member of the family who is not a member of the NYPD in some capacity.
