CBS may have canceled Blue Bloods, but the series is enjoying a surprising resurgence months after its December 2024 finale. The police procedural, which premiered in 2010, ran for 14 seasons and nearly 300 episodes, remaining a ratings success throughout. However, rising production costs ultimately led CBS to pull the plug despite its loyal audience.
Even so, the franchise isn’t done. The upcoming spinoff, Boston Blue, starring Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan, is set to debut in fall 2025, airing Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS.
Meanwhile, the original series is performing exceptionally well on streaming. According to Flix Patrol, Blue Bloods ranked #4 on Paramount+’s Top 10 TV Shows list on Monday, July 7, 2025-trailing only South Park, MobLand, and Yellowstone. This surge comes over six months after the finale, making its renewed popularity especially notable.
The show’s newfound success suggests it’s drawing in a fresh audience rather than longtime fans simply rewatching. Many viewers believed CBS was wrong to cancel Blue Bloods, and its strong streaming performance seems to support that idea. Despite its end on broadcast TV, the series continues to prove its lasting appeal, with all episodes available now on Paramount+.
